(DAYTON, OHIO) … Santa is suiting up to bring holiday cheer to all through a special appearance aboard RTA’s holiday bus! Beginning November 29, Santa will make several appearances throughout the month leading up to Christmas Eve, which will be the final day customers will be able to see Santa on an RTA bus.
To follow social distancing guidelines, a special “Santa’s Bus Stop” has been set up in the back of RTA’s holiday bus to allow Santa to sit on one side, and any guests to sit on the other side and share their Christmas list with the Big Guy. Customers looking to catch a ride with Santa can do so on the following dates:
In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, the Greater Dayton RTA will run a Sunday service schedule on all routes on Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Jan. 1. In addition, The Flyer will not run on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day in observance of the holidays. The RTA will run its regular service hours on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31. RTA Connect paratransit services will also follow the same timeframes for weekend service through the holidays.
The RTA Customer Service Call Center will operate on a Sunday schedule, open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for both Christmas and New Year's Day, and regular weekday hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
The holiday bus is spreading Christmas cheer throughout the Miami Valley through Jan. 1, 2021, as the bus will run on a different route each day. Riders will enjoy the festive Christmas tree design with Santa on the outside of the bus, while inside they will be treated to decorations and holiday music. The entire holiday bus schedule can be found here. Riders can track their bus, including the holiday bus, live with RTA’s RideTime technology. Track your bus using a text message, phone call, computer or app. Visit RideTime for more information.
