(DAYTON, OHIO) … The Greater Dayton RTA is hiring bus drivers and mechanics, and will participate in a career fair hosted by Miami Valley Works in order to help fill those positions. The event is being held on Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley building at 660 S. Main St., Dayton.
Drivers with Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) licenses and those without are encouraged to attend. No commercial driving experience is necessary. The RTA’s training program will provide new hires with the essential skills needed to succeed on the job as a bus driver or mechanic.
The service and repair mechanic positions require two years of experience in the automotive or heavy vehicle maintenance field. Graduation from a two year technical school for automotive or heavy duty diesel repair will be considered in place of work experience. Successful applicants will be required to pass a certification test.
The event will kick-off with a short briefing at 10 a.m., where RTA staff will give applicants an overview of the driver and mechanic positions it is looking to fill. Following a short break, interested applicants will then be directed to rooms where interviews will occur.
Before attending the career fair, candidates are encouraged to first fill out an online application on the RTA’s career website at Careers. Candidates are also asked to bring a current resume, two forms of identification (including a driver’s license), and to arrive in interview-appropriate attire. For those not able to attend the career fair, please visit RTA’s career website at Careers.
The starting wage for RTA drivers with a CDL is $15.91 per hour, and the starting wage for drivers without a CDL is $13.92 per hour. The starting wage for mechanics is $25.18 per hour. More information about the open RTA positions can be found on the RTA career website. The RTA is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
