RTA rewards customers for getting vaccinated against COVID-19

(DAYTON, OHIO) … A month of free rides is what Greater Dayton RTA customers will receive when they share that they’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

A $30 credit on Tapp Pay—the RTA’s new fare payment system—will be issued to any customer who can provide proof that they’ve been fully vaccinated. This credit equates to 31 days of rides for regular fare adult customers. In addition, customers will receive a limited edition “Vaccinated” button, while supplies last. This promotion is being offered now through May 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through a special promotion at Wright Stop Plaza, 4 S. Main St., Dayton.

This promotion is a continuation of RTA’s efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The agency began its “V for Vaccination” campaign in March, allowing customers to show the “V sign,” also known as the peace sign, when they board to indicate to the bus driver that they are headed to or from a vaccination appointment and would ride free.

The RTA has also partnered with Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County to provide mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Using a specially-outfitted RTA bus, Public Health will be providing walk-in appointments for free COVID-19 vaccinations in locations throughout Montgomery County, and improve access to the vaccine. Public Health will be providing patients their choice of either the Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer vaccine.  The Johnson & Johnson is a single dose, the Pfizer vaccine is a two-dose series given at least three weeks apart.
