(DAYTON, OHIO)… The Greater Dayton RTA would like to congratulate Nikol Miller, RTA’s community relations manager, who has been named the new executive director of the Miami Valley Urban League, part of the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio. She will begin her role on March 8, 2021.

Miller is a lifelong public servant with a background in community outreach, public policy, fundraising, and media relations. A native Daytonian, Miller started her career in community and government affairs working for the city of Dayton. In 2005, she moved to Chicago, working for the Chicago Metropolitan Planning Council, United States Census Bureau and Chief of Staff to Alderman for the 7th Ward, City of Chicago.

She joined the RTA in 2016, and was responsible for developing partnerships with stakeholders and community groups to advocate for RTA interests while fostering open and constant communication throughout the region. While working as RTA’s community relations manager, Miller worked with a team of consultants to develop the national outreach plan for the 2020 Census, and managed communications for Dayton’s outreach efforts. In her role with RTA, Miller’s work was imperative in raising the agency’s profile and sharing the importance of public transit with key legislators on projects such RTA’s bus fleet replacement project which included the NexGen dual-mode trolley buses.

While the RTA will miss having Miller as a part of the team, agency leaders are excited for her newest endeavor and look forward to working with her at the Urban League as she strives to promote personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency in the Dayton region.

“We are so thrilled for Nikol,” said Brandon, RTA’s Chief Customer & Business Development Officer. “Our community is lucky to have her leadership and we are excited to watch all the amazing things she will continue to do for our region!”
